We proudly attended the Surrey Care Awards 2022 at the Copthorne Effingham Hotel, supporting our finalist Sharon whitby for the Care Worker of the Year – Supported Living. Sharon started her journey with us a Housekeeper at a care home within the group nearby. She then moved to Weavers, supported adults with learning disabilities. Since being nominated she has been promoted from Team Leader – Support Worker, to House Manager as recognition for her dedication, hard work and experience with her team and her clients.

“Sharon has performed as an excellent Support Worker and through true dedication and tireless graft, has worked hard to pull a new team together that can deliver genuine care and support to the 9 clients in 2 supported living houses at in Merstham. As Team Leader, she set the bar high to lead her team through some challenging times since 2017, including the Covid-19 pandemic. “

Some testimonials submitted with her nomination:

Colleague AQ: “She’s always been so helpful with guiding me step by step when I first became a carer, keeping mytraining in date or completing tasks by the deadline. She has also supported me emotionally.”

Link Worker Coordinator, Care Collaborative PCN KD : “Sharon will often call me for support for her service users. Sharon really does care for the service users; she talks so passionately about them all and wants to ensure they have the GP Support care they all deserve. Sharon has asked me to arrange BI meetings with myself and the GP to discuss service users and I feel it has worked very well.”

Relative – LS: “She is always helpful and keeps us informed of any problems C has and has significantly helped achieve an excellent quality  of life at Weavers consistently going the extra mile. A good recent example was the Jubilee afternoon tea she organised in the Sensory garden for residents and relatives.”

We highlighted her notable qualities: Tenacity, Passion for Care, Coordination between different stakeholders, Willingness to embrace change, and Empowerment of clients she supports.

Competition was certainly strong and another finalist grabbed the win, but Sharon is very much a winner in the eyes of those she supports, and those who have the privilege of working with her. We are certain more success will follow for Sharon in the future.
