Sharon Whitby
Senior House Manager
Throughout the years I have worked in multiple sectors in various jobs, some in supervisory capacity. Yet, it wasn’t till I started working for Strada Care back in 2017 that I felt like establishing a new career in social care and progressing into a more managerial role.
I began my journey at Strada Care as a Housekeeper at a Care Home with Nursing, within the group. I enjoyed the spirit of the home and the interactions with the wonderful people both residing and working there. Soon after, I was offered a position as a Support Worker within two Supported Living houses in Merstham, a role that was entirely new to me. As I settled into my new responsibilities, I realised that my life experiences, including raising five boys, had equipped me well to excel in this field. Over time, I advanced to the role of Team Leader. I pursued a Level 4 Diploma in Leadership, and through dedication and hard work, I graduated with distinction. This achievement led me to become a Home Manager overseeing several services, where I have gained invaluable experience along the way.
Working with individuals who have learning disabilities and autism, despite its challenges, is incredibly rewarding. It has truly opened my eyes to the everyday struggles they face with aspects of life that many of us take for granted.
I am a mum of 5 which keeps me busy at home and I am a ‘Trekkie’. I love watching Star Trek or anything Sci-Fi!
